Il est la lumière / He is the Light / ទ្រង់ជាពន្លឺ

 Le dimanche matin, vers 11H00, nous louons joyeusement le Seigneur à la Cité du Bonheur. Les louangeurs sont des enfants, tous Bouddhistes, ainsi que des jeunes volontaires, musiciens, animateurs et danseurs, du Foyer Saint Jean Baptiste.

Nous croyons que cette louange est le lieu d’une possible rencontre de Dieu… quelque chose de profond, d’intime, impliquant une complète liberté. La joie, le chant, la danse, font tomber nos barrières intérieures rendant la rencontre du Christ possible.

Et, finalement, au milieu de ce peuple des cités ouvrières de Phnom Penh, serions-nous réellement en train d’évangéliser ?...

Pour ce faire, nous avons besoins de chants qui n’existent pas encore au répertoire catholique Cambodgien. Nous sommes donc en train de les créer, ce qui nous met bien vite face à nos limites, qu’elles soient linguistiques, bibliques ou musicologiques ! Nous utilisons des mélodies existantes et écrivons des paroles en Khmer.

Qu’elle aventure… missionnaire au sens complet du terme…

Il est la lumière / He is the Light /  ទ្រង់ជាពន្លឺ

On Sunday morning, around 11:00 am, we joyfully praise the Lord at the City of Happiness. The prayers are children, all Buddhists, as well as young volunteers, musicians, animators and dancers, from Saint John Baptist Center.

We believe that this praise is the place of a possible encounter with God ... something deep, intimate, involving complete freedom. A joyful atmosphere, singing, dancing, make our inner barriers fall, making the meeting of Christ possible.

And finally, in the midst of this people of the working-class cities of Phnom Penh, aren’t we really be evangelizing?

To do this, we need songs that do not yet exist in the Cambodian Catholic repertoire. We are therefore creating them, which quickly makes us face our limits, whether linguistic, biblical or musicological! We use existing melodies and write lyrics in Khmer.

That adventure ... is missionary in the full sense of the term ...
