Graduation Ceremony
The first stage of the English Booster program came to an end today. Only 5 weeks of teaching with great results. The exam showed that students remembered between 80 and 100% of the vocab and grammar structures they have learned! This is just amazing and demonstrates the effectiveness of the English Booster program.
Students all got a certificate and a little present.
Why does this positive and fruitful adventure have to stop so quickly?
In fact, it wasn’t planned at all that way!
My problem was that I didn’t manage to get full-time students in the morning and in the afternoon. With only part-time students in the evening, the school was not financially viable.
But that was not the only reason, here is a very positive one: The graduation ceremony took place during the grand-opening of the school. Bishop Olivier was there. At the end of the program, I was talking with our partners of MC 15/20 and with the Bishop about the problems of English teaching in Cambodia as well as of the reasons of the great results I got at the residence English School. The Bishop was very interested, a few days after that I got hired to work on the pedagogy in 2 high-schools, a junior-high, and a primary school in Takeo province.
I owe English Booster the great job I got!
In fact, those 5 weeks confirmed the problems I was suspected with the teaching of English.
It is possible to do much better than we do now in Cambodia. Step number 1 was the Residence English School…
The English Booster program will develop more in the months and years to come…
