Une séance vidéo… / Watching a Video

Nous avons regardé un DVD relatant un des miracles de Jésus, la multiplication des pains. Cette animation, en Khmer, est vraiment bien faite. C’est le choix des enfants !... J’avoue en être étonne, mais c’est ainsi ! Le Comité Vie Ouvrière, auquel est rattaché notre bibliothèque, est un service de l’Eglise Catholique.

Sur la cité, il y a maintenant 2 autres lieux d’animation qui ouvrent de temps à autres, animés par des protestants coréens. Une différence assez marquée entre Catholiques et Protestant est le prosélytisme.

Des enfants qui fréquentent la bibliothèque et qui vont à l’école Bouddhiste de la Pagode disent qu’ils sont fortement sollicités pour « se convertir » en échange de cours d’Anglais par ces protestants… Cela n’est décidément pas la manière Catholique de pratiquer…

Il n’en reste pas moins que plusieurs enfants sont bien au courant de la vie de Jésus… Et ils en redemandent ! Intéressant et interpellant !

Cela pose la question suivante :

Quel type de présence souhaitons nous avoir dans une cité ouvrière comme la nôtre ?  

Un partage du quotidien de façon fraternelle ?

Un apport éducatif au travers des livres et de l’Anglais ?

Une proposition de foi, respectueuse ?

Un témoignage de foi ?

Un témoignage de vie ?

A réfléchir…

We watched a DVD about one of Jesus' miracles, the multiplication of the loaves. This animation, in Khmer, is really well done. And it is the choice of children! ... I admit to be surprised, but it is so! The Labor Pastoral Comity, to which our library is attached, is a service of the Catholic Church.
On the city, there are now 2 other places of animation that open from time to time, animated by Korean Protestants. A fairly marked difference between Catholics and Protestant is proselytism.
Children who attend the library and go to the Buddhist school of the Pagoda say that they are strongly asked to "convert" in exchange for English classes by these Protestants ... This is definitely not the Catholic way of practice…
Nevertheless, many children are well aware of the life of Jesus ... And they ask for more! Interesting and challenging!

We must ask ourselves the question:
What kind of presence do we want to have in a workers' city like ours?
A sharing of everyday life in a fraternal way?
An educational contribution through books and English?
A proposal of faith, respectful?
A testimony of faith?
A testimony of life?

This is worth reflecting about it…
